Habitat: Akebia is native to a region which extends from Central China to Korea and Japan. It is found in the United States and England also.

Description: Akebia possesses a slender, rounded stem that is green in colour in the earlier stages of its life but turns to brown in later stages. The plant has palmate alternate leaves along the stem and the leaves are divided, generally into 5 leaflets. Its flowers are chocolate-purple in colour. Fruits are purple-violet and are 2 1/4 to 4 inches in length.

Uses: Akebia is used as an antibiotic, antitumor, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, diuretic and galactagogue substance. Its stem, when taken internally, cures bacterial and fungal infections and treats urinary tract infections. It induces menstruation and lactation too. Its root is used as an antipyretic.

Pain Relief:
Capsaicin was found to relieve the pain associated with shingles (herpes zoster), a clinical condition known as post-herpetic neuralgia. Clinical trials have shown that about 50% of those taking capsaicin report improvement as opposed to 10% for the placebo group.

Topically applied capsaicin may be effective in reducing the pain of trigeminal neuralgia, a painful disorder of the main nerve of the face characterized by severe, stabbing pain affecting the cheek, lips, gums, or chin on one side of the face. Mouth pain due to chemotherapy or radiation:
Capsaicin was found to reduce the pain of mouth sores resulting from chemotherapy or radiation treatment dramatically in a clinical trial.

Diabetic Neuropathy:
Diabetic neuropathy is a painful nerve disorder caused by long-term diabetes. Capsaicin has been found to be of considerable benefit in relieving pain of this condition.

Cluster headaches:
Cluster headaches are migraine-like headaches characterized by severe pain, usually localized around one eye. Double blind studies have shown that intranasal application of a special capsaicin ointment by a physician may relieve cluster headaches. Episodic patients were found to benefit more from the treatment than chronic patients.

Arthritis:
Capsaicin may be effective in relieving the pain of either osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis.

Psoriasis:
Excessive substance P levels in the skin have been linked to psoriasis. Capsaicin was found to reduce scaling, redness and combined psoriasis severity.

My husband and I are not smokers and we drink occasionally. The only thing is we are not into "healthy food," though we love home cook meals but we don't compliment on the taste. As my husband and I said, we all gonna die anyway one way or another and we don't wanna live too long and stay at "Home for old folks" and need someone else assistance, that's a no no to us, though it's possible to happen.
Well, we have our own opinions on the "Organic food," I will just believe it's organic food if I grow it myself and I cook it right away after I freshly pick it from my garden. Other than that especially those commercialized organic, all I can say is Hmmm. Because most of our organic veggies here comes from the mainland that travels for days before it reach our market here and it sits on the market for couple days or so, so how are they going to keep it fresh and grow it pest free? Well that's my argument about it. "Organic" to me means I grow it on my backyard with natural soil and sunlight.

My job location is in a tourist area. This means that our customer comes from different countries and mostly doesn't speak good English. But I enjoy it, Japanese customer are fun even they don't speak good English because I can talk to them using "Sign action hand" =) not sigh language lol.
One time, a woman approach me and she needs help. She is Spanish and she can't speak English at all. Thanks to my Dad's side that their native dialect is kinda "Broken Spanish" without the grammar, it helps me a lot. Then she asked her son to ask me if where I was born that I understand her a bit, lol.
I really wanted to learn Spanish and so Japanese. I have a very nice and easy Japanese book before which I come to learn how to speak Japanese. I lost the book, then suddenly I wasn't able to practice Japanese on my former job anymore. When you doesn't practice it all the time, it will surely go down the drain.

Hopefully this year will be different from last year with regard to "Crosswalk fatalities." Most of the victims are elderly people, there are many factors in this kind of accident.
One of the factors is that people are not crossing the street on the right way. I saw many times that some people are just crossing on the highway, to think crosswalk is only 5 feet away. Some are crossing the crosswalk like they are "strolling under the moonlight," hurry up and run if you can. When you are crossing at a highway crosswalk that doesn't have stop lights, make sure that the vehicles on both sides sees you.
I also have a message for the motorist. Make sure to slow down on a resident areas or areas that are close to shopping centers, schools or bus stops. Extra precaution when you are driving during the night especially on a dark street when you have a poor visibility of people walking the street.
Pedestrian and motorist can help eliminate fatalities by being careful every time. It's better be SAFE!

I was complaining last month about the weather. Last month it seems that we cannot feel the winter cold yet in fact it was muggy and hot. I even said that it seems that it's not that cold as last year but then I realized, when the time I was complaining it was not winter yet, it's still fall, no wonder.
This time we are waking up in the morning on 57. Too bad we don't have heater for the night, we have our thick comforter to keep us warm and I was wearing my socks but still it's so cold. I need to double our comforter tonight and look for thicker socks. Brrrrrrrrrrrr

I have no idea what happened to my passport. There is two places where I usually keep our important documents, last week someone posted on FB that make me curious about my passport's expiration date, I looked for it but cannot find it. I turned our house upside down but still have no idea.

We went to attend a mass on Christmas Eve as part of our tradition. The sermon was so wonderful, I appreciate the Priest teaching about the true meaning of Christmas. We should celebrate the nativity of CHRIST.
Have you tried to Google the word Christmas images and what you will get are images of Santa, snowman, presents and sort of stuff which is far from the true meaning of Christmas which is the Birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. It makes me feel sad that Modern Christmas means Gift giving, that gifts are now the center of the celebration and it's becoming commercialized each coming year.

My coworker happily shared that she is about to finish from her online school. She is taking early childhood education at the same time juggling on her full time job and being a mom and a wife. She is so disciplined and well focused on her schedules.
I am interested in continuing my education and finish my graduate school. She is really helping me and teaching me what to do. She asked me to check on her online university for schedules and programs that suits me best. I wanted to take up B.S. Nursing online at the same time focused on my job. I wish I could start on my schooling this year.

Christmas is over, it's almost time to take out the decorations and save for next year. I finally have my "not real" tree this year which I keep bugging husband for years, though it's a small one but I like it. Maybe I'll get a white one next year.
My husband said I have too much balls on our tree, so I re-arrange it into clusters which I find appealing to see (but it doesn't look nice on the photo).
I was contemplating on "Hawaiian Theme" Xmas tree next year. That means I have to collect decorative and colorful tiny surf boards, slippers, hula skirt and probably some hula stuff and flowers too.

I was browsing at the home department in my favorite store and found that a certain brand they carry has come out with new designs of bath accessories and bath towels that matched the bath sink in the photo I inserted. I really Love this American Standard sinks, it's just so pretty and this is what I want since we are planning to renovate our bathrooms. I cannot wait until my husband redo and finish it, in fact I am pretty excited about it.

Getting Colder

I noticed that it's not as cold as last year or maybe the winter season is not in full bloom yet. The coldest temp since I was here is in mid 50s and that was last year during night time. Last night I arrived home at midnight, supposed it's colder in town than in our area which is the dryer part in the island but I was surprised that I grab my jacket and make a hot coffee when I reach home last night cause I feel really cold.
Right now we are on 70s, it will continuously drop until morning but might be only at 60s. Last week is kind of cold too cause I slept with my socks on. Whew, good thing it's not snowing here.

What am I up too? Well, I'm kind of busy with my real life as of the moment and enjoying it so far. I'm hoping that I will be busy making decent dough for the rest of my life, lol. I love what I'm doing right now though I will end on it pretty soon but I am sure that I love it and it's challenge. Hopefully I can find another job in the same field.
Well, it is really tiring, but fast pace jobs suits me best. My whole lower extremities hurts so much after work but I still love what I'm doing. It's better than the other job I have which I sit in the office and thinks till my brain is dead. lol.

I get so addicted on YV contest. I am now pretty sure that I'm a frustrated artist! lol.
Well, this is my entry for the "Holiday Theme Room," I got 150 votes so far and its 4 days to go. I don't really care being in top 10, as long as I get my goal of 150+ votes. I had noticed that there's so many nice entries lately, so many creative people are joining.
For me, making an entry is like a "Stress Buster." I may or may not win but it's ok as long as I share my ideas on freebies and what possible art you can make out of it it. I know I'm not as good as the pro's but I know how to pull my strings in my own little way. It's good to know that there is rv towing service. I though, RV is not allowed here in our state but two weeks ago we saw RV park by the beach. I just noticed that Thanksgiving has lost it's TRUE meaning in our modern days. Today, thanksgiving mainly means feast with Turkey. We forget that Thanksgivings means to give THANKS to GOD with all the blessings he gave us. Maybe we though of it but it's just a little fraction of the feast. I hope that people will realized that and put GOD first on thanksgiving day and set aside the feast and turkey.
